Welcome to the Space Apps Cambridge community!

The NASA International Space Apps Challenge is the world’s largest annual hackathon, advancing innovation for people, our planet, and space. We inspire teams to collaborate and use creativity, science, technology, and open data from NASA and Space Agency Partners to create solutions to challenges on Earth and in space.

NASA Space Apps Cambridge invites all students, professionals, and residents who are currently living and/or studying and/or working in the City of Cambridge, City of Boston, the Greater Boston Metropolitan Area, and surrounding cities/towns in New England, to join us for the local edition of the world’s largest hackathon/create-thon.

We are bringing together Renaissance thinkers, doers, makers, creators across all fields and disciplines:  Coders. Artists. Scientists. Educators. Designers. Sustainability champions. Engineers. Storytellers. Researchers. Policymakers. Environment lovers. Data scientists. Health professionals. Space enthusiasts. Students, parents, creators, makers, innovators all!  

Participants and Partners will join exciting, innovative global and local communities that celebrate creativity, invention, innovation, and inspiring collaborations across diverse interests and expertise.

Notes:

This is a free program: There are no registration fees!

Pre-Registration starts April 1, 2025.

Register as soon as you can (by September 22), to receive tips and additional info to maximize your experience on Oct. 4-5, 2025.

This will be a hybrid and distributed event:

Participants can choose where to work: on campus, at home, at work, at a cafe, wherever you feel most comfortable and can do your best work.

At the same time, there will be a number of central locations across Cambridge and Greater Boston where Participants can check in and connect with the community: there will be onsite mentors, volunteers, food/drinks.

All Pre-Registered Participants are invited to join all the (free) community socials, mixers, and educational forums we’re hosting, to connect with each other, make new friendships, and also get prepared for the Oct. 4-5 hackathon.

Participation in NASA Space Apps Cambridge is exclusive for those who live/study/work in Cambridge, Greater Boston, and the surrounding cities/towns in New England (within ~1 hour drive of Cambridge/Boston) - including universities and colleges invited to participate.

If you are living/studying/working in a different geographic area or a different country, please register with the closest NASA Space Apps hub/location to you, or for the NASA Space Apps Universal event, which is purely virtual.
